Attendees at the recent Lab Automation 2007 Conference converged on Hudson Control Group's booth to learn more about and discuss Hudson's new advances in lab automation. Hudson introduced the RapidPickTM high-throughput colony picking workcell which, for the first time ever, will allow researchers to dispense media, select and pick colonies, seal plates in preperation of incubation and have Hudson's software retain a record and image of the specific colony and which culture plate well it inoculated. The Rapidpick was also one of 14 products to be selected to participate in the first ever "Late Night with LRIG: Rapid-Fire Innovation Session". This session was moderated by the Association for Laboratory Automation and attracted over 80 researchers. This informative presentation was given by Steven Riedmuller, V. P. of Technology. Attendees found the presentation to be very educational and during post presentation questions audience participants inquired about the product's ability to recognize and select colonies, as well as, its economical price.
The company also gave product demonstrations at their booth on Softlinx for SystemsTM multi-tasking scheduling software, PlateCrane EX microplate robotic arm, the nano25, 8-channel nano-volume robotic pipettor, micro10 robotic liquid dispenser and the VaryVac, a robotically controlled vacuum nest. Scientist were impressed by Hudson's ability to integrate products, optimize efficiency, create flexibility, and to fully automate all aspects of plate delivery. Besides the successful product demonstrations, the hit of the show was Hudson's custom painted PlateCrane EX.
