HUDSON CONTROL GROUP GIVES
PRESENTATION ON GENE OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUES AT PEPTALK 2007
Steven Riedmuller, V. P. of Technology for Hudson Control Group, presented an
overview on Gene Optimization Techniques at Cambridge Healthtech Institute's
PepTalk 2007 conference. Mr. Riedmuller's presentation was part of the Protein
Process Development track and focused on the essential molecular biology tools
that make up Hudson's Prolink Express System and how these tools have been used
for novel projects in gene optimization. The audience of over 100 attendees
showed great interest in the modularity of Hudson's approach to automation and
integration and asked Mr. Riedmuller to expand on how the Prolink Express System
can assist researchers in other gene assembly processes. This session was one of
the best attended at the conference.
The ProLink Express™ System
is the first fully automated proteomics workcell to integrate all plate delivery
and transfer operations together with automated data tracking from initial
bacterial colony picking through final protein expression and measurement. The
Prolink Express™ can be used in gene sequencing studies, forensic testing, cell
toxicity studies and most ELISA assays, and will provide significant benefits in
the area of proteomics, toxicology, antibody production, gene assembly,
molecular biology and biomarker discovery.
This system is currently in use by the USDA in a ground-breaking research
project to create new genes that will convert the substances in agricultural
waste into ethanol and by major pharmaceutical companies conducting research in
molecular biology.
